Edeka calls back veal liver sausage

The retail company Edeka has started a recall for the product "Liver sausage with veal" in a 150 gram pack. According to the company, premature spoilage is possible because the sausage is not fully cooked through in some cases.

Edeka Südwest Fleisch GmbH from Rheinstetten (Baden-Württemberg) is recalling the product "Liver sausage with veal", 150g, with the best before date (best before date): July 15, 2020, batch: 20162. "Reason: Premature spoilage is possible because it is sometimes not fully cooked through," says a press release.

Sales via the service counter

“As part of complaint management, the products mentioned above attracted attention. In some cases, the liver sausages are not fully cooked, ”the company wrote in the message that the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) published on its portal“ lebensmittelwarnung.de ”.

According to the information, the liver sausages are sold via the service counter. Edeka would like to point out that the recall only affects the above-mentioned best before date. Consumers can return products they have already purchased with the corresponding best-before dates or batch numbers at their point of sale against reimbursement of the purchase price - even without presenting the receipt.

Customer service inquiries are answered by the customer service on the hotline 0721/180558233 or by email [email protected]. The company very much regrets this incident and apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Unfortunately, there are recalls in food production due to errors in the manufacturing processes. A common reason for food recalls is contamination with bacteria such as salmonella or listeria. In addition, products are often recalled due to foreign bodies such as glass, aluminum or plastic residues. (ad)
