Manufacturer recalls forest blueberries

Lausitzer Fruchtverarbeitung GmbH from Sohland an der Spree (Saxony) has started a recall for blueberries in a glass. According to the company, there was a customer complaint regarding foreign bodies.

The company Lausitzer Fruchtverarbeitung GmbH from Sohland on the Spree in Saxony is recalling the product "Lausitzer Waldheidelbeeren" 340 grams in a glass with the best before date (best before date) 12.08.2022. The best before date is on the edge of the lid. "The reason for the measure is a customer complaint regarding foreign bodies," the company writes on its website.

Company starts from an individual case

As the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) writes on its portal "lebensmittelwarnung.de", broken glass is the reason for the warning.

"Although we assume that this is an isolated case, we decided to take this step after consulting the authorities responsible for us," the company explains the recall.

The company would like to point out that only the product "Lausitzer Waldheidelbeeren" 340 g glass with the best before date of 08.08.2022 is affected by the return. Other best-before dates and other products from Lausitzer Fruchtverarbeitung GmbH are therefore not affected.

Better not to eat

Food that is suspected of containing broken glass should in principle no longer be consumed. Because the consumption can lead to serious injuries in the mouth and throat as well as dangerous internal injuries.

Due to errors in the manufacturing processes, foreign bodies such as glass, aluminum or plastic residues often occur in food production.

Another reason for frequent food recalls is contamination with bacteria such as salmonella or listeria. (ad)
